Midlands Area Racing
The Midlands area organises a number of sailing events at clubs in the region for junior sailors to gain racing experience. Our sailors are also involved in club racing, traveller series and national events throughout the year. Come and join in!
For Clubs wanting to rent extra Toppers for training and racing to use as part of their club junior programmes we have access to 21 Toppers which clubs in the midlands region can have access to. Further information from the Area Rep's .
NEW In 2018 the Midlands area are transitioning the Traveller series from its current form of a calendar year series to a series in line with the academic / sailing calendar which is aligned to the school years exactly the same as the Topper Class association National Series. thus allowing transitioning sailors to move on after the Nationals should they choose to do so.
In the transition year the 2018 series will be shorter than usual and will end at Hollowell on 7th July. The 1st prize again is a new 5.3 sail. The winner will have the sail to use at any remaining National series events and the Nationals.
In september we will begin the new 2018/19 format series where we already have the first 2 traveller events booked at Draycote S.C. 15th September, which is also the 1st of 3 RYA Zone Squad indicator events and Carsington S.C. on the 6th October followed by an open training day at Carsington on Sunday the 7th October which is the final Zone Squad selection event for the RYA Zone Squad 2018/19.
PHOENIX MARINE have kindly donated a perpetual trophy for the top under 13 sailor in the series. We thank David Summerville for his generosity and support. Phoenix Marine are always looking at developing systems and additions to racing dinghies. They do some great stuff for the laser, their toestrap is by far the best. If you have any ideas on changes that you would like to make to the systems etc. on the Topper David is keen to help and offer his vast experience to get your boat working how you would like it. Forward your initial contact to the area reps Richard and Anne Marie.

Each Traveller will have its own Notice of Race (NOR) but the ITCA issued Notice of Series for the Midlands can be viewed above. This covers all events but please also watch out for the local club's notices or any club notfied changes, which may differ to the above information, as and when we get closer to each Traveller.
