Wales Area Racing

Racing in the Wales area differs from other ITCA GBR regions in that we do not have a 'Traveller Series'.  Here in the Welsh region we have a number of stand alone events including:

  • Dragon Series
  • Onboard Festivals
  • Welsh Junior Championships
  • Welsh Youth & Junior Championships
  • Welsh Topper Championships

Dragon Series

A separate Dragon Series is run in the North, South and West regions and is aimed at sailors from novice sailors through to experienced racers.  The Dragon Series is hosted by local clubs in the region and supported by RYA Cymru Wales.  The ethos of the series is to welcome and help less experienced sailors, with those more experienced passing their knowledge to the less experienced.Further details about the Dragon Series events are available on the RYA Cymru Wales website - Dragon Series

Onboard Festivals

 

The Onboard Festival is run by RYA Cymru Wales and is a fun and social event perfect for those who have not raced before and would like to experience a regatta.Details for the 2025 Onboard Festivals can be found on the RYA Cymru Wales Website - Onboard Festival

Welsh Regional Junior Championships

The RYACW Regional Junior Championships is one of the highlights of the Topper calendar in Wales.  2025 sees the event return to Dale, Pembrokeshire, where sailors of all abilities can race in the Onboard or Championship fleets in the safe waters of Milford Haven.  The 2 day event over the weekend of 22/23 June 2025 sees junior sailors from all over Wales converge to battle to be crowned Welsh Junior Champion.Further details Available on the RYA Cymru Wales Website - Regional Junior Championships 

Welsh Youth & Junior Championships

 

The RYACW Youth and Junior Championships return to Plas Heli on 13/14 September.  This event open to any UK based sailor is also an indicator for the Welsh Sailing Team selection.  The Toppers fleet race in some of the best conditions Cardigan Bay has to offer.

Welsh Topper Championships

The Welsh Topper Championships are hosted by Llandegfedd Sailing Club.  The event, open to Topper sailors from across the UK, to be crowned Welsh Topper Champion is being held on 5/6 July 2025.  Racing takes place in Championship and Onboard fleets offering coached support for the less experienced sailor. Further details and entry for the Welsh Topper Championships will be available soon.
