Volunteers are an integral part of the Topper Class. There are only 2 part-time paid roles within the association. Everyone else, including the General Committee and the Area Representatives, are volunteers. Without these volunteers, the class could not continue.

The General Committee and Area Representatives plan all the national and regional training/racing opportunities for our sailors, but we need additional help during events to ensure all necessary roles are covered.

To put this into context, for a weekend National Series event, we need at least 100 volunteers over the 2 days of the event. For our week long National Championships, we need to fill nearly 100 volunteer slots per day!

We are fortunate to have a great number of parents, guardians and friends of the fleet who give up their time to ensure the smooth running of the class. But, as sailors move on to different fleets, we are always looking for new volunteers.

There are roles for everyone, from those who have great knowledge of the sea and sailing, to those who have never set foot in a boat, and have no desire to!

If you are planning to attend an event and can spare a little time to help out, please have a look at the volunteering roles available.

For those who can spare an hour or two each week, please consider getting involved with one of our General Committee or Regional Roles. If you would like to help within your region, but can’t see a vacancy listed, please get in touch to express your interest – we will always welcome additional support! Or, if you feel you have a skill outside these roles which would be useful, then also please let us know!
