How can the ITCA 5.3 Training Team improve your racing performance?

Here’s what one sailor got out of the (slightly curtailed) 2019-20 5.3 squad and, as actions speak louder than words, Lucia just scored her best ever race result at NS1 at Draycote – a 7th in race 3.

Hi, my name is Lucia and I’m currently 16. After two great years of Topper zone squad, I was part of the ITCA 5.3 squad, this past year, and found it to be an incredible and invaluable experience helping me to progress; it prepared me for the expected summer racing. As there were lots of sailors from all over the country, I was able to meet many people and make new friends. We received first-class training from exceptional and motivational coaches. Although we were a large group of around 22 sailors, it felt like all the coaches got to know each individual, in a relatively short space of time, and therefore gave us personalised coaching tips and advice as well as more general feedback. In particular, I found that this really helped to identify and target my personal weaknesses and was key to my improvement. I would wholeheartedly encourage any 15-18 year old 5.3 sailor, who wish to advance with their sailing journey, to apply. In addition, if you’re concerned that being in the squad could interfere with your studies during a crucial school year (I was in Year 11 last year), don’t be worried as it is possible to balance school with sailing.

Entries close at 12:00 Friday, 9th October so… make sure you apply before then!!
