As a RYA pathway boat, the Topper Class Association offer a range of opportunities for keen sailors to obtain extra training and support as part of a Topper Training Team. The class run two teams – ITCA (GBR) 4.2 team and the ITCA (GBR) 5.3 & 6.4 team.

The RYA will be organising a Regional Training Group Lite for the winter 2024/25 which will comprise of 4 weekends. The RYA will post details of their selection policy shortly.

The ITCA (GBR) 4.2 Team is aimed at those smaller sailors who currently sail with the 4.2 rig and there are usually 5 training camps scheduled over the winter months. In order to be eligible sailors normally need to be aged over 10 and under 14 years of age on the 31st December. Alistair Dickson, is the Head Coach and brings to the team great enthusiasm and drive with his years of sports coaching.

The ITCA (GBR) 5.3 & 6.4 Team is for those sailors who currently sail with the 5.3 rig or the 6.4 rig. Sailors will primarily be aged 14 or over and under 19 on the 31st December. Sally Dugdale is the Head Coach and has worked with the Topper Class Association for many years. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience to pass onto our sailors.

In addition to the coaching weekends, Team members will be able to take part in online sessions with topics such as boat prep, rules and protests, nutrition and fitness.

For 2024/25, the venues will be mainly located in the middle of the country to give sailors from all regions the opportunity to attend – although one venue will be WPNSA.
