UPDATE - Coach support at the Nationals
Due to the significant level of interest, it has been possible to add an extra coach to provide support to sailors on the 5.3 course at this years Topper National Championships in Largs. As a result, entries have been re-opened with a new deadline of 30th June and an entry limit of 54 sailors.
The entry deadline for signing up for support on the 4.2 course has also been extended but there are very limited places still available.
Any ITCA members can sign up on the ITCA entry system here and should then look for one of the following, dated 3rd August:
- 4.2 Course Coach Support - Topper Nationals 2019 Largs
- 5.3 Course Coach Support - Topper Nationals 2019 Largs
The support is open to anyone, but is often especially helpful for newcomers or less experienced sailors who may not have sailed in an event on this scale before. Typically, for the 6 days of the championships, the coach will provide:
- Daily briefings before sailing starts
- On water support including advice between races and carrying spares, spare clothes and food.
- Debrief after sailing.
- Assistance with protest hearings .
In addition, for those sailors who arrive in Largs early enough on Saturday 3rd August, there may be a chance for a pre-event sail with the coach, to help them to get used to the venue. Coaches will also be available to help with registration or measurement issues. Please note that whilst coaches are on the water they are part of the course safety fleet and that at times they may have to prioritise safety related activities over coaching.
Price for support as outlined above is £130 per sailor.
Revised closing date for entries is 30th June 2019.
